What Is The Voluntary Medical Payment On My Policy?

In a Commercial Property Insurance Policy the insuring agreement provides businesses with Medical Payments coverages. The insurer agrees to voluntarily pay for certain medical expenses incurred by third parties who are injured on or near your premises, or as a result of your operations. The expenses include but are not limited to immediate first aid, ambulance charges, x-rays, surgical services etc.

The concept is that if someone is injured you should provide immediate medical attention, the benefit to you is possibly more than it simply being a goodwill gesture to an injured third party. Chances of a permanent injury are greatly reduced when immediate medical attention is provided to the injured person. It is also possible that failure to provide such a response might be construed as negligence, so it is in both the insurer's and your interest to provide immediate medical attention. Lastly by voluntarily providing an immediate medical response, a legal confrontation with the third party over immediate out of pocket expenses can be avoided.

A person is less likely to sue someone who showed concern and helped them in a time of need.
